Bask In The Calm

Hello again! I hope you’ve been having a fantastic day so far. Though if you haven’t, I might just have a way you can improve it some time today.

There are 3 kinds of pollution lots of people talk about: Air pollution, water pollution and light pollution to a lesser degree, Though there’s a 4th kind that many people forget about. Noise pollution. This kind of pollution can be just as bad if not worse than the other three, especially if you live right near an airport like I do. Not to worry even if that’s the case! For there’s a very simple way to mitigate the problems associated with the hum of city life. Quiet time.

Simply turning off the TV, sitting in your room and reading a book can do wonders for your mental health. If the noise of traffic still penetrates your walls, then perhaps it would be worth while to take a short trip to a beach or nature park. Where the beach is generally separated from the noise but a stretch of land. Nature parks normally have enough trees and foliage to somewhat dampen it. Those places have the added bonus of having the sounds of nature. While noisy at times, the human body finds these sounds soothing rather than aggravating. Ocean waves and chirping birds have never been annoying after all.

And if even that is out of the question, noise cancelling headphones or a simple pair of earplugs can mean a world of difference when the droning of progress gets to be a bit too much. Though do note, while it is possible to hear the sounds of nature with a pair of headphones, depending on the quality it might not be close enough to the real thing for your body to receive it well. So if even music ends up giving you a head ache try turning it down or completely off and just wear it to dampen the sounds around.

Thanks for reading and I hope you learned something from my own lesson in life.
