That Lucky Old Moon
Hello there and welcome to another edition of the Cowboy Computer Repair blog. Don’t worry, this one was written by a fully fledged human, unlike the last. In keeping of that fact, lets touch on a far more human subject. The Sun, Moon, and the sleep we get between.
If it were up to me, I’d turn the sun right off. It’s too bright and blinding for my taste. But I begrudgingly accept its presence because sometimes it’s actually helpful to see with. That and my own body needs it to stay healthy. Even though my job involves staying inside with dusty computers all day, I do my very best to absorb all the vitamin D I can. It helps your skin after all, even if too much can end up hurting you instead. But what about after the sun is gone?
Some people report becoming far more productive and focused in the dead of night. I was the same way for quite some time, though I had a change a few years back. As it turns out, the only reason I felt so alert so late was because I stayed up very late most of the time, which trained my body into seeing the dead of night as “awake“ time. All I had to do was go to sleep earlier and the rings around my eyes vanished, funny how that works. On top of that, sleeping in sunlight can cause additional problems.
Your body knows it’s in sunlight even while you’re asleep, though this can end up crossing your wires and giving you a loss of focus or make you flat out more irritable. This is caused by the fact that your body will try to wake you up when sunlight is abound. If you need more sleep at this point and try to catch more Zs, you will end up with poorer sleep quality as your body will wake up multiple times before you fully rise. So if you’re truly planning on sleeping through the day, make sure to do it in a very dark room.
Thanks for reading and I hope you learned something from my own lesson in life.
