“What If?“ Solutions
If you’ve ever heard elderly people talk enough, you may have heard them reminisce about what could have been if they had simply decided a different option. This could be anywhere from trying a flavour of ice cream that’s no longer around to moving all the way across the globe. While I can hardly advise you on a decision as drastic as that, I can offer some advice on day to day decision making.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
You spend hours or days on a single issue, finding new methods to fail at fixing the problem every minute of the way. The whole time you are doing this you’ve had one solution at the back of your mind. You tell yourself it would take too much effort, cost too much or just be a waste of your precious time. Then, in the final hour when you call someone else to fix it for you, or even decide to try it yourself, it turns out you were right all along. Or were you?
In my opinion, having the right plan of action is only one part of being right. The second and most important part is taking action and making that idea a reality. That right there is the difference between being your own hero, or asking yourself “What if?“ for the rest of your life, while people groan in annoyance as you claim to be right with nothing to show for it years later. If you’re to glean anything from my writings, let it be known that failing while carrying out your plan is far less painful than wondering if you would have failed every time you remember the incident.
Thanks for reading and I hope you learned something from my own lesson in life.
