Some Scholars Are Not Worth An Ear

There are times in life where you might be looking for an answer to a rather difficult question. This can be anywhere from what colour of car you should buy all the way to what the meaning of life is. In these times, you may be lucky enough to encounter someone that you consider to be a scholar while having the opportunity to garner information from them, in person no less.

Having been on the receiving end of many myself, I have decided that there may be more than a few that are worth guarding against. One kind of these scholars may even have the gall to call themselves as such. Somehow worse than the ones who charge money for what they describe as “Sage advice“ are those who have absolutely no time for you beyond preaching what they know as if reading from a script, failing to take into account anything to do with you. Be it your life story, temperament, ideals and knowledge, instead only content on endless speaking about how perfect their opinions are and always have been.

After entertaining their explanations on various for several hours in a day, you will find yourself mentally and physically exhausted and maybe even completely dissatisfied! Especially after how excited they may seem to finally have found an ear to dump it all into. In reality however, the so called scholars who have no interest in you as a person are more than happy to solidify themselves as public speakers in their own minds, despite typically presenting to an audience of one.

So remember, if someone shows interest towards teaching you, yet has no interest in you, your questions, or even goes as far as feigning interest in your answers, perhaps they simply aren’t worth your time.
