A Kind Word
As I’m sure everyone knows by now we are a couple years deep in a pandemic thus far. Having to keep your social circles small and whatnot due to mandates here and there has somewhat soured the prospect of going out and celebrating anything. This made it no surprise that people wouldn’t even want to go trick or treating for free candy 2 years in a row, which led to my decision of staying inside and working all through the last Halloween night.
It was when I finished my late dinner and sat down in my office chair that I realized how little I wanted to work at all. Just a minute later, at precisely 7:15 pm, my neighbor asked if I wanted to go out and watch the Halloween fireworks show. I dropped everything I was supposed to be doing and met them with a rousing “Sure!“. I’ll be the first one to admit there is hardly anything better than getting away from the computer to breath in fresh air and stare at pretty explosions.
The takeaway from this little story is if you think someone you know might like to go outside and hang out, don’t be afraid to ask. Even if they are knee deep in paperwork, a message from you could be a life saving rope they can use to climb out of their self made hole.
Thanks for reading and I hope you learned something from my own lesson in life.
