Big Changes Hurt
A recent job of mine has reminded me of the importance of securing your future in for assets and finances alike. In light of of this, I would like to share some of my musings and hopefully these can help you in the same way they have helped me.
Sometimes in life you will find a way of getting through it. It could be anywhere from a job you find to a way of navigating the choices you come across. For every option you see flying by, for every person that tries to sell you a new way of going about your day, you stay with your roots planted in the ground. And why would you change? It makes sense to keep doing what works.
But what happens when it stops working?
For all of the naysayers, peddlers and snake oil salesmen, nothing should light a fire in your eyes more than your own results failing to come to fruition. There’s only one problem with this situation. Change hurts. Like the floorboards I had to rip from my very own floor, it took tremendous time and effort. Even while I was performing the task, I couldn’t help but think to myself: “Is this worth it? Would it not be easier to simply tolerate the ageing floor? Even if it is rotting and falling apart?“
Finally after all the new boards were laid, I looked upon the floor and saw it was good. I new I would no longer fear losing my balance late at night due to the floor shifting as I walk, or creating horrendous noise while using the washroom in the form of creaks and cracks.
The cost of anything can seem far more than necessary until you take into account the benefits of what you have to gain plus the cost of what you have to lose, which in my case there could have very well been my life. Or in the case of the business I shall not name which inspired me to write this, their livelihood.
Thanks for reading and I hope you learned something from my own lesson in life.
